We believe in creating opportunities so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.An opportunity for either part time or full time can be considered, 0.6FTE to Full Time, this position is a fixed term role until 30/06/2022 with the possibility of extension, based in East Gippsland.RFDS Victoria are looking for Youth Outreach workers to join their new CARE program. The RFDS Victoria CARE program is a new non-clinical outreach program designed to support the mental health and wellbeing of bushfire-affected communities in East Gippsland.The Youth Outreach Worker will provide low intensity mental health & wellbeing services to young people (aged 12-25 years) impacted by bushfire in East Gippsland. The Youth Outreach Worker will link clients to appropriate primary care and community services and community networks as required. Community engagement will be essential to build trust and rapport and engage young people in community.This role involves regular travel across the delivery catchment area to facilitate service delivery.Primary duties and responsibilities:Provide wellbeing support engagements to young people that may include psychosocial support, psychoeducation, debriefing, case management, risk management and escalation.Provide follow up engagement and wellbeing supportProvide young people with a range of information and support to meet their individual needs and goalsProactively engage with local communities and key stakeholders to build trust and rapport and to promote service access pathwaysDevelop community knowledge of relevant services and enable seamless referrals and handoverRefer within the established stepped care framework for the regionMaintain confidentiality and security of identifying personal informationTravel to isolated communities in your designated catchmentParticipate in all supervision to  ensure commitment to continuous learning and improvementActively participate in evaluation of the service and other quality activities as directedWork within clinical governance framework and be proactive in risk identification, management and escalationActively promote a positive public image of RFDS Victoria and its partners among our volunteers, health care practitioners and collaborators at public events as requiredKey Selection Criteria Essential:Qualifications in one of the following*:Youth work (tertiary or Cert IV)Social workMental health (tertiary or Cert IV)Education*Other health and community related qualifications may be considered if significant work experience is also presentStrong understanding of East Gippsland and local recovery needsDemonstrated experience in conducting youth engagement activitiesPossess excellent interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated capacity to quickly learn and following detailed proceduresAbility to work autonomously and as part of a teamCurrent Working with Children CheckSatisfactory National Police CheckHold a current Victorian Drivers LicenseDesirable:Experience (either work or lived experience) providing mental health supportA reliable car for travel (all travel costs reimbursedThis is a rare opportunity to work for an iconic Australian organisation that promotes a supportive and inclusive working culture.
