Program Coordinator – Community Transport – St Arnaud

The OrganisationProudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service has been connecting people in rural and remote communities across Australia to the health care they need to thrive. In Victoria, The Flying Doctor has an extensive patient transport operation by air and road, complemented by a range of mobile and fixed primary health services, such as dental, optical, mental health, GP clinics, speech therapy and a growing number of digital health technologies.The RFDS Community Transport Program is delivered in the Victorian towns of Rochester, Heathcote, Numurkah, Warracknabeal, Foster and this Program Coordinator will be involved in the set-up and delivery of a new site in the Wimmera region based out of St Arnaud.The roleOffered on a full-time fixed-term contract until the end of June 2024, the Program Coordinator – Community Transport is responsible for managing day-to-day operations related to the Flying Doctor Community Transport Program in the Wimmera region, which may include the areas of the Northern Grampians Shire.The Program Coordinator – Community Transport will take a supervisory approach to program establishment, service planning, client liaison, volunteer management and stakeholder management to ensure effective and timely delivery of community transport services in the Wimmera/Northern Grampians region. This role takes a detailed, hands-on approach to the running of the program and liaising with program partners (e.g. health service partners) staff and management,Tasks and responsibilities include:Coordinating and managing all service scheduling and client bookings through the RDFS platformEffectively communicating the community transport service to the community with a view to growing and continually improving the serviceActively promoting and building awareness of the service in the community with the intention to recruit more volunteer drivers and engage new clients for the serviceComponents for this role include business development, working towards supporting expansion via service scope, increasing geographical distribution and exploring learning opportunitiesFacilitating the recruitment and management of volunteer drivers of the service including credentialing document preparation and storage, organising training details and organising uniformsProviding necessary training, supervision, mentoring and rostering of driversProviding leadership and fostering a collaborative work culture among the volunteer and team and community transport sitesQualifications and experience required:Qualifications or extensive experience in health, management or a related fieldExperience in the management of volunteers and staffExperience training staff in a volunteer setting is highly desirableDemonstrated understanding and experience with supporting and communicating with older adults, people with a disability and their carersStrong planning, analytical and monitoring skills with excellent attention to detailUnderstanding of home Care Packages, my Aged Care, Social Support Groups or NDIS models is desirableThe program Coordinator – Community transport will primarily be based in ST ARNAUD, with travel within the area and to other Community Transport sites and Melbourne required from time to time.This is an exciting opportunity to work for an iconic Australian charity that promotes a supportive and inclusive working culture, offers a flexible working environment and exciting employee benefits.RFDS offers a competitive salary with salary packaging options.
