The Organisation
Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) provides emergency road, aeromedical and primary health services for people in rural and remote Australia. We believe in creating opportunities so all Victorians have the choice to access essential primary health care services.
Through the Flying Doctor Health Group program, RFDS operates locally based clinics to better support Victorians to access health care in their own rural and remote communities. Supported through funding by RFDS Victoria’s donors, the program joined with Robinvale District Medical Centre to expand services to meet the community need with a GP service which already included telehealth and speech therapy.
The position:
RFDS Health Group General Practitioners provide safe, quality primary care services within the region of North West Victoria as part of the RFDS Victoria Primary Health Care team.
Working in Robinvale, the focus is to provide General Practitioner services and improve local access to primary health services. The General Practitioners help to build and be part of an integrated team of health professionals across RFDS Victoria Including a collaborative, supportive environment with access to RFDS’ extensive Clinical Governance network.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing high quality, patient orientated clinical services, including skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment
- Referring patients to other providers as appropriate, actively communicating and coordinating with colleagues, specialist services and allied health professionals to support shared care
- Providing outreach to residential aged care facilities and other sites as required
- Recording and maintaining accurate, adequate and relevant patient records using the established practice protocols and computerized medical records system
- Working with the GP Clinical Lead, Medical Director and Operations Manager to implement innovative models of care and service coordination/integration with internal and external stakeholders
- Being responsible for generating practice revenue through MBS, DVA and legal billing and initiatives
Essential qualifications and experience required:
- Vocational Registration (Fellowship with RACGP/ACRRM)
- Non-VR will be considered upon application if the applicant has general registration with AHPRA and requires level 3-4 supervision only
- Registration with the Australian Medical Board (unconditional)
Specific requirements required:
- Current drivers licence – community and home visits are a component of the role
- Willing to undertake a National Police Clearance (at the expense of RFDS)
- Willing to hold a Working with Children Check
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Availability to work Monday – Friday as required (3 days minimum)

- Measles, Mumps and Rubella
- Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis
- Tuberculosis
- Annual Influenza
- COVID-19 (2 vaccinations + booster)
